Two students con Paris Match’s photojournalism prize

I find it funny how 2 art students would win a photojournalism contest and then reveal that all the pictures that they submitted were staged. The British Journal of Photography writes about it here.

What I find interesting here is that the winners studied the winning pieces and photojournalism’s cliches. I know that this would probably spark a lot of talks and hopefully, progress.

It’s very disheartening to hear people take advantage of other people’s sorrows. I just hope that people would have enough dignity not to embarrass themselves.

Iloilo Government Website Infringes on Copyright

It’s one thing for the media to steal your photos, and another thing for the government, who should know the law regarding copyright infringment, to delete your watermarks and not credit you for your photos. It is kinda funny though if you think about it… the newspapers and the government website could’ve simply avoided long infringement issues and court cases should they have taken a couple of minutes to ask for permission. Oh well.. whatever floats their boat. Poop Poop Poop

Visayan Daily Headlines violates photographers copyright

It seems that Anton Sheker is a favorite of copyright infringing papers from his still pending case with Manila Bulletin, The News Today, and now the Visayan Daily Headlines. Either he’s got a page somewhere that’s very easy to find, he’s very good at what he does, or both. I’m still waiting for his last expose.

The News Today violates photographer copyright – erases watermarks

News about media companies stealing from individuals always amuse me. It seems that for editors, journalists and artists who study for at least 4 years to get a degree, you would somehow expect them to have taken a small subject on ethics. Poop
